Holle A2 Stage 1 Organic Infant Formula (From Birth)

Holle A2 Stage 1 is an organic cow’s-milk infant formula for use from birth when breastfeeding is not possible or when supplementary feeding is needed. It uses milk from selected cows that naturally produce the A2 type of beta-casein rather than a mixture of A1 and A2 beta-casein. The formula contains lactose as its only carbohydrate.

What Makes Holle A2 Stage 1 Different?

The defining feature of this formula is its milk-protein profile. A2 describes the type of beta-casein present in the cow’s milk; it does not mean that the product is dairy-free, lactose-free or hypoallergenic. Holle combines organic skimmed A2 milk with partly demineralised whey to create an infant formula intended for the first stage of feeding.

  • Age and category: infant formula suitable from birth, including for supplementary feeding.
  • Carbohydrate profile: lactose is the only carbohydrate listed by Holle.
  • Milk source: organic cow’s milk from selected cows that naturally produce A2 beta-casein and no A1 beta-casein.
  • Fat sources: the official ingredient list includes organic palm, rapeseed and sunflower oils.
  • DHA source: DHA is supplied by oil from the microalgae Schizochytrium.
  • Certification: the current manufacturer page identifies the product as organic and Halal; it is not presented there as Demeter.

Stage 1 in the Holle A2 Range

This is the starting product in Holle’s three-stage A2 line. It is the appropriate A2 stage to consider from birth; Holle A2 Stage 2 is a follow-on formula intended after 6 months, while Holle A2 Stage 3 is designed from 10 months. Moving to a later stage should follow the child’s age, diet and advice from a healthcare professional rather than a preference for a higher stage number.

Important Feeding and Allergy Information

Breastfeeding is the recommended form of infant nutrition. If formula feeding or combination feeding is being considered, discuss the decision with a paediatrician, midwife or other qualified healthcare professional. Holle A2 Stage 1 contains cow’s-milk proteins and lactose. A2 protein is not a treatment for cow’s-milk protein allergy, and this formula should not be assumed suitable for an infant with a diagnosed or suspected milk allergy.

Always follow the preparation and storage directions on the package. Prepare feeds fresh, use the scoop supplied with the product and discard leftovers after feeding. The detailed ingredients, nutrition values, preparation steps and feeding quantities are provided below.

Organic A2 Milk and Product Verification

Holle states that the organic A2 milk comes from specially selected cows and that cows supplying its organic milk are given access to fresh air throughout the year under EU organic rules. Product information was reviewed against the current official Holle A2 Stage 1 page. Packaging remains the final reference because manufacturers may update recipes or instructions.

PREPARATION GUIDE:

  1. Always sterilise bottles, teats, and rings before use. Boil fresh drinking water and allow it to cool to approx. 40-50°C (104-122°F).
  2. Pour approximately half of the cooled water into the sterilized bottle.
  3. Fill the measuring scoop loosely and level it off. Add the required number of scoops (according to the feeding guide) to the water in the bottle.
  4. Close the bottle and shake thoroughly until the powder is completely dissolved.
  5. Add the remaining half of the cooled water and shake again.
  6. Allow to cool to drinking temperature (approx. 37°C / 98.6°F). Test the temperature on your wrist before feeding.

Important Notes: Follow preparation instructions exactly. Use only the provided scoop. Prepare fresh formula for each feeding; do not reuse leftovers. Improper preparation can lead to health problems. Do not heat formula in the microwave (risk of overheating).
